Each country has its own traditions and customs. In some ways, we are different, in something similar. Still, the New Year is a world holiday, one might say that unites us with some traditions: gifts, “Home Alone”, tangerines, Coca-Cola advertising and congratulations from the President. But we celebrate it completely differently.
The British people celebrate the New Year as soon as Big Ben starts to beat loudly 12 times – “Happy New Year!”. In the first sounds of the battle, the back door opens, the Old Year is accompanied, and in the last the main entrance door opens and the New Year is let in.
The kids leave a plate at the Christmas tree with a treat for Santa and his assistants. And in the morning find gifts in stockings by the fireplace or under the Christmas tree.
In France, on New Year, it is forbidden to give perfume. Perfume can only give a husband his wife. On this festive evening, the French are playing a lottery where I win a turkey, chicken or pig. At the feast, the “Bean King” is served – this is a cake or a pie, in which there is one bean and to whom it will fall, luck will come all year. Children in the morning run to their shoes to pick up the gift left by Per Noel.
In Switzerland, it is customary to celebrate the New Year in a light house and in light clothing. The streets must also be lit. And the queen of light Lucia gives gifts. And not only children, but also adults and pets.
New Year in Spain is not very bright. They decorate the city with festoons, prepare a couple of snacks and sweets, a lot of champagne vm. According to the battle of hours, they make a wish and quickly eat 12 grapes.
Italians celebrate the New Year with friends. This is their dinner called St. Sylvestre, the celebration of which begins at 9 pm. On the table must be present lentils, pork, caviar and nuts. Lentils symbolize money. They put money on the window sill or burn candles for a favorable year.
Italians dress in red and buy a lot of new things. And the old one is thrown away. Previously thrown out of the window, but due to numerical injuries – the rite was banned.
In China, streets of the carnival, firecrackers shoot, dress up in a dragon. There is always a lot of red in costumes and jewelry – it drives away evil spirits. Dinner is prepared until the evening, so that a couple of hours before the New Year does not use the knife and inadvertently cut off luck or happiness. In Feng Shui, the family hangs pictures depicting their desires. The year will come, see and fulfill.
